What Kind of Job Can I Post?

Is the job opportunity part-time or full-time?

This service targets part-time job opportunities for students. Full-time jobs are permitted if they occur during the summer or during enrollment break periods (e.g. winter or spring breaks).

Employers may contact the Career Services Center to post other full-time job opportunities. Their number is (360) 650-3240.

Does my position take place at a location within the general Bellingham area?

If the job will be within the local area (Whatcom and Skagit Counties), then it can be posted online. The same applies for if the job is offered out of the local area during extended breaks in enrollment (winter, spring, or summer breaks) or is offered during weekend hours.

Does the job pay at least minimum wage?

All postings on the website must meet Washington State minimum wage guidelines.

The current minimum wage for Washington State is $12.00/hour.

Is the position free of start-up costs to the employee?

Jobs requiring a buy-in or marketed as a business opportunity are not appropriate for students. The position will be rejected.

Is the job non-discriminatory toward protected classes of employees?

Employers may not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, age, national origin, disabled or Vietnam Era veteran status, sexual orientation, disability or gender.

An employer may specify required gender for personal care attendants such as live-in aid or other personal aid.

Does the job support the interests of the University by offering students an employment opportunity to help pay for educational costs while offering reasonable and safe employment?

The Student Employment Center will consider the value of the job opportunity compared to potential concerns that may be present when determining whether to post the job opportunity.

Please review our job posting disclaimer for additional details.

Off-campus modeling jobs will only be accepted from recognized and established organizations such as major advertisers, retail outlets, or art shops. No modeling jobs will be posted from individuals for work in private or in-home settings.
